Honeywell Negotiations Update 11.10.17

Your Negotiating Committee has been hard at work and continues to go late tonight.

Over the last week, we’ve made progress in many areas on non-economics. The committee will be working tomorrow and continues next week.

Your Negotiating Committee remains committed to fighting for a fair and equitable contract – one that we can recommend to the membership.

It’s up to the company to show this Committee – and most importantly, you, our members – how much it values its workforce.

Please continue to show your support and solidarity in the plant.  Your strength is our strength at the bargaining table.

REMINDER: Tentative contract vote is scheduled for Sunday, November 19th at 2:00 pm at Belton High School located at 801 West North Ave, Belton, MO 64012.

And on behalf of your Bargaining Committee, on this Veterans Day, we’d like to acknowledge all the brave, honorable, and selfless Local 778 members who have served our country. Happy Veterans Day and thank you for your service.

Honeywell Negotiations Update 11.03.17

Your Local 778 Bargaining Committee is pleased to report that there has been positive movement this week on a number of important issues brought to the table. We were able to make movement on several non-economic articles.

These agreements were reached thanks to the hard work of your Bargaining Committee – which now opens up room to discuss and hone in on the top issues and the ones you told us were important in your membership surveys: wages, health care, retirement security and seniority.

Thank you once again for your continued show of solidarity and support from the shop floor.

There’s still much more work to be done. Negotiations will reconvene on Monday.

SAVE THE DATE: A tentative contract vote date is scheduled for Sunday, November 19th at 2:00 pm at Belton High School located at 801 West North Ave, Belton, MO 64012.

Members of the IAM Local 778 Negotiating Committee opened negotiations Wednesday, November 1, 2017 with Honeywell in Kansas City, MO.

The contract – which covers nearly 900 workers who do contract work for the Department of Energy – is due to expire November 19, 2017.

“Today’s opening session was productive,” said IAM Local 778 Directing Business Representative Joe Capra. “We managed to cover a portion of the language on non-economic issues, and look forward to continuing these talks over the upcoming weeks.”

“I’ve been with this company for 39 years and negotiations have always gone smoothly – except for our last contract six years ago,” said IAM Local 778 Business Representative Leo Berroteran in reference to the bargaining unit’s last round of negotiations, which resulted in a strike that lasted 41 days. “The committee is hopeful this round of negotiations will not follow the path of 2011. We look forward to working with the company in negotiating a fair and equitable contract.”

“I want to thank the members of the negotiating team for their commitment, hard work and dedication in preparing for these negotiations,” said Capra, “and most importantly, the membership. Our members are the strength behind this committee. Their support and solidarity are vital as we embark on the negotiations of this contract over the next few weeks.”

Wear GREY or your union shirt tomorrow, Thursday, November 2, 2017 to show the company #WeAreOne!
