IAM Lodge 778 hosted the first ride for Guide Dogs of America.

July marked the beginning of a tradition to IAM lodge 778.  Lodge 778 has supported the Guide Dogs for years and this year they have taken a step forward.  Lodge 778 put together a charity motorcycle ride to raise donations for the Guide Dogs.  For a first time effort, the ride was a great success.  Organizer Howard Brown was the force behind the event coordinating volunteers and sponsors.  Howard committed, “this is our first ride, they will be bigger and better in the years to come.”

Thanks goes to David Worth (center) owner of Blue Springs Harley.

The ride started with registration at Blue Springs Harley-Davidson.  Around 11:00 riders headed out to I-70 west.  They rode through downtown Kansas City on the way to Lake Perry in Kansas.

The closer the riders got to Lake Perry the more scenic the ride.  The view from the dam was breath taking.  The ride took everyone around the lake to the rider refueling point, American Legion Hall 22.

From the American Legion Hall, the ride preceded on to Leavenworth.  After leaving Leavenworth, they headed to Lodge 778 Union Hall to end the ride with entertainment, food and prizes.

Volunteers

I would like to thank everyone who assisted July 28, 2007 to make our Guide Dogs of America run a real success.  It was a hot and muggy day for the ride and when we returned to the hall it made all of the riders so proud to see such a great setup and reception for the riders.  A truly inspiring moment for us riders, that will never be forgotten!  So I want to let you know what you did was so very awesome and allowed us to collect slightly over $2,000.00 in receipts and pledges for this most worthy cause.

THANK YOU! Mike
